Richfield’s Commitment to Community Safety and Trust

In a concerted effort to bolster community safety and trust, Richfield has joined forces with 11 other suburban cities to form the ‘Cities for Safe and Stable Communities’ coalition. This initiative aims to restore safety, trust in government, and stability across Minnesota.

Mayor Mary Supple emphasized the coalition’s mission: ‘While our suburban communities are varied, the needs of our residents are unified in this moment. All Minnesotans deserve a government that upholds the rule of law and the constitutional rights of its people.’

The coalition’s formation comes in response to concerns arising from Operation Metro Surge, which has significantly impacted local communities. Mayor Supple highlighted several issues faced by Richfield residents:

  • Children expressing fear about attending school, leading to approximately 20% of Richfield Public School students opting for remote learning.
  • Residents avoiding medical appointments due to apprehensions, resulting in missed healthcare services.
  • Erosion of trust in local law enforcement, with residents hesitant to call 9-1-1, undermining efforts to build community relations.
  • Negative effects on the local economy, as community stability is disrupted.

By participating in this coalition, Richfield demonstrates its dedication to addressing these challenges and fostering a safe, stable environment for all residents.
